Presentation Notes (PDF)
We are living in dangerous times both politically and economically.
As professional advisors, it is our duty to protect our client's assets. With
equity markets going sideways, interest rates rising, and oil prices going through
the roof, how are you going to insulate client portfolios from the shocks caused
by these unpredictable economic changes and geo-political events? Attend and find
out.
Ken is president of Toronto based Capital Ideas Inc., and a member
of Creative Planning Financial Group. He specializes in developing and implementing
creative wealth management strategies by providing professional advice and service
for a broad range of insurance and financial products. Since 1999, Ken has focused
his investment practice on Alternative Investments. He is continuously upgrading
his own education, performing due diligence and ongoing research on the various
hedge funds available to Canadian investors. In acknowledgment of this expertise,
a number of advisors now “hire” Ken on a cooperative basis to offer alternative
investments to their clients. He believes that all investors can benefit from
the diversification Alternative Investments can provide. He is a founding member
of the Academic Certification Board for the newly minted Chartered Alternative
Investment Planner (CHAIP) designation sanctioned by the Investment Funds Institute
of Canada (IFIC). Ken has had numerous speaking engagements, most recently as
a featured speaker at the June 2005 Million Dollar Round Table Annual Meeting
in New Orleans Louisiana.

Living Benefits: CI, DI and LTC

PERSONAL
CARE PLANNING Presentation (PDF)
Living Benefits: CI, DI and LTC Insurance is an important part of a complete financial
plan. As the insurance-product universe grows, so do the number of ways in which
it can be used. It has become increasingly confusing to determine how this tool
fits into your clients' financial plans. A single client problem could have a
number of different yet equally effective solutions.
Kim Stanley has been a life insurance advisor for 20 years. She
was the third generation to join the family business, which she took over in 1997
upon her mother's retirement. The enormous changes and consolidations in the insurance
industry pointed to many new opportunities. She sold her agency in September 2003
and embarked on a new career. She founded The Canadian Living Benefits Centre,
a company created to educate and train the Canadian public, insurance advisors
and the media about the importance of living benefits, particularly by critical
illness insurance and long term care insurance.
Kim holds her Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Life Underwriter
and Chartered Financial Consultant designations as well as her B.A. in English.
She has served on numerous industry boards and committees. Kim wrote a Personal
Finance column in The Globe and Mail and Goodlife Magazine. Currently, she writes
a bi-monthly column for a popular industry magazine, Forum and a monthly column
for The Care Guide. She has recently appeared on the Roger's TV program, Dufferin
Peel Living.
